Top seeds prevail at NZ Junior Championships 18u PDF Print E-mail

The top seeds continue to show form at the NZ Junior Championships 18u with the quarterfinals being played this morning at Albany Tennis Park, North Shore.

Auckland's Imogen Golder, seeded one had a long three set match against Sothern's Louise Oxnevad in the first girls quarterfinal. Oxnevad one the first set 6/3 before Golder won the second 6/4. Golder continued her lead to take the third set and match 6/1.

Waikato-Bays Heidi Stewart and Dana Gray continued their dominance in the main draw winning convincingly against Olivia Isbey (Auck) and Davina Meza Cordova (Nrthn) to make their way into the semi's. Fifth seed Christine Foote (Nrthn) and Libby Scott (Sthrn) had a battle.  The match was a set all before Foote picked up the pace to take out the final set.

Top seed Adam Lee (Akld) beat Canterbury's Hayden Joblin (Cant) in his quarterfinal, but was pushed to a tiebreak in the second set. Second seed Jordan Kelly-Houston (pictured in main pic) only dropped one game in his quarterfinal.

Fourth seed Marco Comuzzo (Nrthn) and Richard Hornby (Cant) won their matches in two sets to secure a spot in the semi-finals tomorrow.

Girls semi-finals kick off from 9am tomorrow (Tuesday) with boys semi-finals to follow (approx 11am).
