Four Kiwi singles wins in Bendigo PDF Print E-mail

Four New Zealanders have posted first round wins at the ITF tournaments in Bendigo Victoria, in Australia today.

Third seed Marina Erakovic had a straightforward two-set win over qualifier Bojana Bobuscic of Australia. The score was 6-0 6-1

Cantabrian Ellen Barry defeated Karen Filippou, another Australian player, 6-1 6-3.

Barry also advanced in the doubles with partner Marija Mirkovic (AUS), with a 6-3 6-4 win over Alison Bai (AUS) and Jun-Yi Zheng (China). In the next round they will face Danielle Brown (GBR) and Daniela Scivetti (AUS)

In the men, Dan King-Turner despatched young Australian Jarred Maher 7-6 6-3.

Rubin 'Jose' Statham  has advanced in singles and doubles. In singles he defeated Matt Reid (AUS) 4-6 7-5 6-1 

Statham and partner Joel Lindner had a 6-1 6-4 win over wildcard pair Kyle Stoker and Sean Wheatley (AUS). Next, they will play Luke Saville and Andrew Whittington (AUS)

Marcus Daniell lost his first round singles to Dayne Kelly (AUS) in three sets.
