The British Rallycross Drivers Association wishes to record its sadness at the death of Terry Briggs and, on behalf of all its members, to offer sincere condolences to his family and friends. A successful competitor with a track record spanning more than three decades, Briggs always stood out from the crowd thanks both to his flamboyant driving style and his penchant for unusual cars: over the years his mounts included a Vauxhall Chevette, Renault Alpine A310, Mazda 323, Audi TT and the self built spaceframe Renault ClioSport Supercar that he raced into the 2008 season.Briggs had been in palliative care since the start of the year after he had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. He died on Tuesday April 14 and was aged 63. Terry is survived by his wife, Val, and adult children Sam, Keri and Nick, the latter also well known in Rallycross having been a successful Stock Hatch racer. Briggs’ funeral will take place at the Kent and Sussex Crematorium at 1430 on Friday May 1. Family flowers only, donations to The Hospice in The Weald, Pembury, Kent.
