Monday, 21 September 2009 00:00
New Zealand will have a male umpire at elite level for the first time since 2004, next year following Simon Taylor’s appointment to the 2010 Men’s World Cup in New Delhi.

Taylor has been named in the first group of 10 umpires appointed to the tournament next February.  Further appointments will be made following the three Men’s World Cup Qualifying Tournaments.

In other umpiring news Craig Gribble has been appointed Umpires’ Manager to the BDO Men’s Qualifying Tournament being hosted by Invercargill in November.  Gribble has undertaken this role previously under supervision, but this will be the first time he has been in sole charge.
